Had a cracker of a sleep. Put in plugs and basically slept for 8+ hours. Toilets were outside the convent so more rain and wet feet…..but I felt so much better. Didn’t even hear the snoring really.
Walk out of the albergue and saw this
So not that far to go. Headed down the road to find almost everyone from the convent at a cafe and supermarket getting provisions etc. and joined them.
Decent walk over some mountains and streams to Zubiri and then onto Larrasoana. Found a bed in a 26 bed dorm and the municipal albergue for 8€. Went to pilgrim dinner of soup, beef stew and rice pudding with vino tinto.
So who’s on this tour. So many nationalities. Amazingly there are a ton of Aussies, largest group are the Italians and the French who don’t speak much/any English and travel in packs and stick together. Then Spanish of course, a few Germans, Danes, Americans, a Columbian mother and daughter who are spending time bonding but the daughter seems to be dragging mum along……
The track is still wet and muddy and mostly single file width. Everyone so far seems very respectful of the pilgrimage and what it stands for…
