Day 15. Castrojeriz – Fromista. A walk in the rain

After a nice meal and a couple of after dinner digestives I spelt quite ok.

breakfast was the usual, cheese, bread, OJ, Cafe con leche. Really yum.

Walked out of Castrojeriz and wandered down to the path up the hill. If you look in the distance you can see where we will walk. Up a long hill.

Anyway you get to the top and look back over the valley and down to Castrojeriz, wow what a view…

Then you get to the other side of the table and find yourself staring down an 18% decline. So slow going down it. Knee sore going down. Up is definitely better than going down.

walked past a couple of towns in spitting rain and then stopped for tortilla and bocodillo. And a glass of wine….

then in the rain started. Seriously it poured. And poured and poured.

Arnaldo and I walked for almost 10km in the driving rain. Not so much fun. You can see the town in the distance but it just doesn’t seem to get here fast enough. Rain rain rain so so boring. The poncho doesn’t fit so well and you can’t see properly. My glasses are foggy and wet. I am sweating in the poncho.my feet hurt. Anyway you get the picture. Sorry.

made the hotel , had a shower dried my stuff and went to eat.

sat with an English guy Tony and an American woman Michelle. Both have a story. He had ridden a bike from the Shetland islands to Valencia to stay with his sister and her family. It didn’t work out so he decided to walk to Finisterre. Michelle lost her 16 yrs old son in a car accident 2 years ago. She is still grieving and walking helps her with the pain. Everyone has a story.

The journey helps with perspective and acceptance of all people. It’s a trip.

you learn to trust the universe. Things happen for a reason although you may not know why at the time.

just on half way now. Still going strong. Weekend coming up in Leon.

PW – 39k steps today across Meseta.
